Boo!

Once upon a time when we lived elsewhere, we would sit in our garage on Halloween and hand out warm apple cider and candy.

This is the first year we have done it since moving back here. And as we do much of our life now, we did it with the Zipps! We all had great fun.

Making lots of spider cupcakes ...
Preparing for the evening ...

Ready to go!

Star Wars dudes Seth and Joel.

Even Heidi got in on the fun! Doesn't she look thrilled?

Mr. Zipps (with his injured leg and crutches) and I stayed back and handed out cider, cupcakes, candy, and trinkets and chatted with neighbors while Sean and Susan took the kids trick-or-treating.

Great fun was had by all!

  1. Just wanted to say that I love the picture of you with the spider cupcakes. That look in your eyes takes me back many, many years.

You still have that spunk and delight that I remember of the little girl who used to follow her big brother around. I'm glad you haven't "grown out of it"--don't ever lose it!

  2. Now why didn't you talk about the endearing quality of my being so stubbornly opinionated - also since I was little - in your comment on my other post?

    :-D LOL!

  3. No need to proclaim the obvious, my dear!

I always told Mom that your determination and self-expression (notice my use of kinder, gentler, pc-type terms for what you aptly describe as being "stubbornly opinionated") would serve you well.

We all knew that one day we would see these traits being put to more positive use than just digging in against conventional wisdom and parental counsel, and asserting your right to do things your own way. See, the Lord has uniquely equipped you to deal with what has been placed before you.

That determination and resolve have borne tremendous fruit in your advocacy for your boys.

  4. So I guess what you're also saying is . . . my boys get it honest . . . and there is hope?
